Custom Window Shutters

By Kathie Stillows

There are different types of custom window shutters that are available today. You have vinyl, aluminum, fiberglass and wood shutters. They come in standard sizes or if you need larger ones you can purchase double panel shutters. The factory designs also come in different heights or they can be custom made to your specifications. If you do not find the color that you are looking for, then you can buy shutters that you can paint yourself.

Adding custom vinyl shutters to your home can really make a big difference in the homes appearances. One reason that you have so many different types to choose from is because there are so many different styles of homes. Specific textures and designs go better with certain styles of homes.

Choosing Custom Window Shutters

One of the first things you should consider before purchasing custom window shutters would be what type of shutters you want for your home. The traditional style shutter uses narrow panels with limited sizes, while plantation styles come in a variety of sizes. Therefore, this is another thing you need to consider.

You will need to decide which type of material you want your custom window shutters to be made from. Because synthetics shutters such as the vinyl ones have an artificial appearance, wood shutters seem to continue to be the most popular. However, the wood shutters are usually more expensive.

If you choose the wood materials, you will also have to decide if you want your custom window shutters to be painted or stained. If you feel that you may want to paint them yourself, this needs to be decided before the purchase is made.

When you order custom window shutters the company you order from will have guidelines for you to follow in determining how many panels you will need for each window. If you are trying to save money on your custom window shutters, you can do this by measuring them and determining what sizes and how many you will need yourself.
